I have been a member of british mandolin and guitar orchestras Moonlight Mandolins (2008-2020) and London Mandolin Orchestra (2009-2016). I performed in EuroFestival Zupfmusik in Bruchsal Germany in 2014 as a member of the british BMG ensemble.
I have been the guitarist and live sound engineer for band Strathcam (2010-2025). I played for the International team in a number of Newcastle Scottish Country Dance Festivals.
I arrange a variety of music for guitar, and also play existing repertoire. I have accompanied various people close to me in vocal and instrumental performances.
I have a number of guitar scores and methods, original and newer editions and facsimilees. I’m interested in older arrangements of greek music, particularly greek tango, operetta, traditional or popular tunes, british ‘parlour guitar’ repertoire and classical guitar pieces from the 19th century
I must have been the first to understand what instrument was meant by Adamantios Korais learning the ‘english guitar’ in Stamatis Petrou ‘Letters from Amsterdam’. I brought this reference to the attention of cittern researchers and performers and I am credited for this in the PhD thesis of Panagiotis Poulopoulos and in Jelma van Amersfoort’s paper MISS SARA BURGERHART’S ENGLISH GUITTAR: The ‘guitarre Angloise’ in Enlightenment Holland .
I play some of the repertoire from Straube (including Gervasio arranged by Straube), and Parry on open G tuned guitar with capo on 5th fret or standard tuning.
I play Yorgos Tyrtaios version of Retraite Espagnol in open G. Given its similarity to the american ‘Spanish Fandango’, I brought it to the attention of the late D. Sauter.
I have used a variety of hardware and software for audio and midi recording of personal projects and ensembles: Audacity, Garage Band, Ableton Live, Soundcraft and Mackie Mixers, Zoom H5 portable recorder.
I have created typeset versions of my compositions and arrangements using Lilypond and Musescore. I use a YouRock guitar gen 1 for midi input.
I play a laouto made by Christodoulos Pipis. I’m interested in the traditional role of the instrument accompanying the violin in Cypriot and Greek Aegean island music but also explore its solo capabilities.
